Sinfonietta: A Celebration of Shelley

Percy Bysshe Shelley, one of the great Romantic poets, was born in Field Place, Warnham, spent his early life in and around Horsham and died in a boating accident 200 years ago. We’re joined by a couple of notable Sussex residents – BBC Radio 4’s Chris Aldridge and Angahrad Lyddon, finalist in the Cardiff Singer of the World 2019 – for a programme combining readings of some of Shelley’s most iconic poems with complementary music by Beethoven, Walton, Vaughan Williams and Bridge plus a setting of The Sunset by Ottorino Respighi, and Another Orpheus, a wonderfully dramatic score by John Hawkins based on an excerpt from Shelleys’ Hellas.
